About RC&G Handyman

The "RC&G" stands for Richard, Charlene, and the Girls โ€” because they're who I work for, every day.

Hi, I'm Richard

I started RC&G Handyman Services after decades of being "the guy who fixes things" โ€” first for family, then for friends and neighbors, and eventually for paying customers across the East Bay. The business is named after the most important people in my life: my wife Charlene, and our daughters.

I've always been mechanically inclined. I grew up taking things apart to figure out how they worked, and putting them back together better than I found them. Over the years, that turned into a full set of skills covering carpentry, drywall, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, fences, decks, doors, dry rot repair, deck refinishing, smart home installs, and just about everything else a homeowner ends up needing eventually.

Why People Hire Me

Three reasons, mostly:

  • I do the job right. I've won numerous awards on Angie's List because I take pride in the work. The job isn't done until you're satisfied.
  • Fair prices. I keep my operation lean โ€” no fancy office, no fleet of trucks. That keeps my costs down so I can keep your costs down.
  • I respond fast. I know when something breaks at home, you don't want to wait two weeks to hear back. I get back to inquiries quickly and I can often be on-site within a day or two.

Where I Work

The bulk of my work is in East Contra Costa County โ€” Brentwood, Antioch, Oakley, and Pittsburg. I also regularly serve Discovery Bay and Bethel Island in the Delta, Fairfield and Vacaville in Solano County, and Lodi and Stockton in San Joaquin County. If you're outside these cities, ask anyway โ€” I'll travel further for the right job.

What I Don't Do

I'm a handyman, not a general contractor. In California, handyman work is generally limited to projects under $1,000 in combined labor and materials, or to smaller repair work that doesn't require a contractor's license. For bigger remodels, structural work, or anything requiring permits, I'm happy to point you to a licensed contractor I'd trust with my own home. Honesty about scope is part of doing the job right.

Get in Touch
